Apple Pie

1Beat the egg loose and divide into two parts. One half is for the dough, the other half for brushing the top.egg: 1

2Mix butter , sugar , self-rising flour , half an egg, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt into a firm dough. Divide the dough into 3 parts.butter: 200 g, sugar: 200 g, self-rising flour: 400 g, vanilla sugar: 8 g, salt

3Peel the apples , remove the cores and slice them. In a cup or bowl, mix the caster sugar , cinnamon and custard powder .apples: 1,5 kg, caster sugar: 75 g, cinnamon: 1 tbsp, custard powder: 2 tbsp

4Grease your springform pan and dust it with flour.

5Use one part of the dough to cover the bottom of the tin. Use a second part of dough for the edges. You can either roll out the dough or push individual pieces of dough together in the mould.

6Put half the apples in the mould and sprinkle ⅓ of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top. You can now also put the remaining apple slices in the mould, sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.

7Roll out the last part of dough on a floured work surface into a sheet about 5 mm thick and cut strips about 1 cm wide.

8Lay the strips crosswise on the apple pie. With some extra dough strips, finish the edge all around. Use half the egg to grease the strips of dough.

9Place the tart slightly below the middle of the oven. Bake for 60 minutes until cooked and golden brown.
